Herb Mott created the internal illustrations for the last Random House hardbound trade edition to feature illustrations, #28 The Mystery of the Deadly Double, in 1978. It is also assumed that he painted the cover art for this book. This was the only book in the series to feature Mr. Mott's artwork. Mr. Mott is most well-known for his work depicting modes of transportation: cars, planes and especially trains. In the 1990's he moved west and started painting western themes.
